For 2022 Atlantic Container Line will be implementing a new tariff charge.
The Damage Protection Surcharge ( DPS ) will be applicable to all westbound and eastbound moves, and all dry standard equipment ( 20ft DV and 40ft HC/DVs ).
This surcharge, assessed at USD 20.00 per unit, protects customers against the cost of repair of all minor damages. From January, only repairs of $ 300.00 or more will be invoiced to the shipper/consignee.
The DPS is calculated exclusively on the incidence and costs associated with the repair of small scale damages, so those repairs costing $ 300.00 or more will continue to be pursued in full, and the first USD 300.00 not waived.
We anticipate the introduction of this surcharge will reduce administration and save time for all parties, and will be welcomed. It is an initiative already rolled-out and operating successfully in other trades within the Grimaldi Group.
The DPS is applicable to all tariff and service contract moves, where applicable. Reefers, and other specialist equipment remain outside of this programme.
